 Achievements



  1. Mandela finish his degree and qualified as a Lawyer .
  2.  Mandela became involved in politics, 
  3. In 1944 Mandela helped found the ANC Youth League.
  4. In 10 May 1994 Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa on and was President until June 1999. As president,
  5. Nelson Mandelais also associated with many educational programmes and initiatives such as Make Poverty History Campaign.
  6. In 1993 Nelson Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.                                             Turning points 

  • When his father died, Mandela becoming chief of his local tribe.
  • In 1952 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa.
  • 4-By the late 50s the S.A.state had become increasingly repressive making it more difficult for the ANC to operate. Mandela had to resign from the ANC and work underground.
  • by 1962 Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment
  • Nelson Mandela recently lost his eldest son to this disease and Mandela has worked hard to campaign on this issue

                                               Fred Hollows
  • 1929  born in New Zealand

  • 1965 he was head of the Eye Department at a Sydney hospita

  • 1975 he helped launch a national program to attack eye disease in Aboriginal Australians.

  •  1980 - Fred was travelling all over the world to help set up eye health programs in developing countries.

  • 1989 -  Fred Hollows knew he wouldn't live to see all his ideas happen. 

  • 1993 - Fred died at home surrounded by his friends, his wife Gabi and their five children.

 - In 1952 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa.

- In1960 the Sharpeville massacre of 63 black South African’s changed the whole political climate.
-  In1962 Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Robben Island prison.
- In 1990 Mandela’s release from prisone.
- In 1994 Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa on and was President until June 1999.

                                       Judge Bob Bellear

Born in 1944
In 1978 He told an interviewer in Drunkenness was our only refuge
In 1968 Bellear became the first Aborigine to rise to the level of petty officer in the navy.
In 1972 Bellear decided to would study law.
In 1973 Bellear went to Sydney Technical College to finish his high school studies,
In 1072 Bellear founded the Aboriginal Housing Company in Redfern.
 In 1987appointed as counsel assisting to the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths.
In 1990 he won the University of NSW Alumni Award.
In 1993 Macquarie University awarded him an honorary doctor of laws in recognition of his services to law
In 1996, he became the first Aborigine to be appointed a judge
In 2005 bellear died.
